    Occupational First Aid

     

    Duration: 3 days or 24 hours

     

    Maximum numbers: 10

     

    Certification: FETAC. Level 5 accreditation. Certificate will be provided

     

    Valid for: 2 years

    Course Content

     

    Module 1     First Aid in the Work Place  

     

    Module 2     Patient Assessment 

     

    Module 3   Respiratory Emergencies 

     

    Module 4  Cardiac First Response

     

    Module 5   Wounds and Bleeding

     

    Modue 6    Altered Level of Consciousness

     

    Module 7   Musculo-skeletal injuries

     

    Module 8   Burns and Scalds, Chemicals, Poisons, Electric Shock

     

    Note 

    Paediatric Occupational First Aid follows the same syllabus as above with an emphasis of the managent of these emergencies in children. The course will also cover illnesses that occur in childhood such as Croup, Meningitis and Febrile convulsions.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Child Care First Aid 1 day course

     

    Duration: 1 day or 8 hours

     

    Maximum numbers: 12

     

    Certification: Certificate of attendance by Remote West First Aid

     

    Valid for: 2 years

    Course Content

     

     

    • Patient Assessment of infants, children and adolescents

    •  

    • Respiratory Emergencies, Asthma, Anaphylactic reactions, Choking, CPR for children and infants, Recovery position

    •  

    • Wounds and Bleeding

    •  

    • Fractures and sprains in young children

    •  

    • Burns and Scalds

     

    Child Care First Aid 2 day course

     

    Duration: 2 day or 16 hours

     

    Maximum numbers: 12

     

    Certification: Certificate of attendance by Remote West First aid

     

    Valid for: 2 years

    Course Content


    To the above 1 day course the following will be added

     

     

    • Prevention of accidents in children

    •  

    • Poisons and Electrical Injuries

    •  

    • Epileptic and Diabetic Emergencies in children

    •  

    • Management of children with meningitis, croup, febrile convulsions

    •  

    • Scalp injury and concussion in children

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Teachers and students 1 day course in schools

     

    Duration: 1 day or 8 hours

     

    Maximum numbers: 12

     

    Certification: Certificate of attendance by Remote West First aid

    Assessment of casualties in the field

     

    Wounds and Bleeding, Scalp laceration

     

    Management of fractures, sprains, strains and dislocations, spinal immobilization

     

    Cardiac First Response - CPR, choking and recovery postion

     

    Management  of Medical Emergencies, Epilesy and Asthma

     

     

    Sports First Aid 2 day course

     

    Duration: 2 days or 16 hours

     

    Maximum numbers: 12

     

    Valid for: 2 years

     

    Certificate: certificate of attendance by Remote West First Aid

     

    Course Content

     

    To the above 1 day course the following will be added

     

    • Prevention of injury in sports

    •  

    • Use of AED (Automated External Defibrillator

    •  

    • Head injuries/ Concussion, Compression, Skull fractures

    •  

    • Management of spinal injuries in the field

    •  

    • Keeping casualties warm while waiting for emergency services

    •  

    • Diabetic emergencies and Anaphylactic reactions
